MARSHALL CURRY (Director)
Marshall is an Academy Award®-winning filmmaker of both documentary and fiction films. His Oscar®-nominated documentaries include STREET FIGHT, about Cory Booker's first run for mayor of Newark, N.J.; IF A TREE FALLS: A STORY OF THE EARTH LIBERATION FRONT, which chronicles a radical environmental group; and A NIGHT AT THE GARDEN, about a Nazi rally that filled Madison Square Garden in 1939. Most recently, Curry won the Oscar® for THE NEIGHBORS' WINDOW, a short fiction film that he wrote and directed. He also directed the award-winning documentaries RACING DREAMS, which tells the story of two boys and a girl who dream of becoming NASCAR drivers, and POINT AND SHOOT, about an American who leaves home to join the Libyan revolution. Curry also Executive Produced and helped to edit MISTAKEN FOR STRANGERS, a comedy documentary about the indie rock band, The National.
His films have won top honors at Sundance and Tribeca, played in theaters and on television around the world, and earned two Writers Guild of America nominations. He was selected by Filmmaker Magazine as one of "25 New Faces of Independent Film" and received the International Trailblazer Award at MIPDOC in Cannes. He is a graduate of Swarthmore College where he studied Comparative Religion.
BRISTOL BAUGHAN (PRODUCER)
Bristol Baughan co-founded Reason Pictures / GOOD in 2004. She joined Marshall Curry in producing RACING DREAMS in the Fall of 2006. Bristol’s other film credits include: BY THE PEOPLE: THE ELECTION OF BARACK OBAMA and WHICH WAY HOME (HBO), SON OF RAMBOW (Paramount Vantage), and THE POWER OF THE GAME (National Geographic).
JACK TURNER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER)
Formerly a studio acquisitions and development exec, he helped oversee such films as CAPOTE and HOTEL RWANDA. He is now a founding partner of White Buffalo Entertainment through which he has produced THEATER OF WAR, WHICH WAY HOME, LOVELY STILL, DAYLIGHT and the upcoming animated feature HOLY COW!
DWAYNE “THE ROCK” JOHNSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER)
Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson is an actor and retired professional wrestler. He has starred in movies such as THE MUMMY RETURNS, RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN, and most recently PLANET 51. His autobiography, The Rock Says… was a New York Times No. 1 bestseller. He is the founder of The Rock Foundation which has a mission to educate, empower and motivate children worldwide through health education and physical fitness.
MATTHEW HAMACHEK (EDITOR)
Matthew Hamachek first collaborated with Marshall Curry on the Oscar nominated STREET FIGHT. In addition to editing RACING DREAMS he also served as Post-Production supervisor. Matthew has edited projects that have aired on HBO, IFC, PBS, and the Discovery Channel. His titles include FILM SCHOOL with Nanette Burstein and THE ONE PERCENT with Jamie Johnson. Matthew is currently editing Marshall’s next movie IF A TREE FALLS.
MARY MANHARDT (EDITOR)
Mary Manhardt is an Emmy-award-winning documentary film editor and consultant based in New York. Her work has aired on HBO, PBS, ABC and MTV, and been honored in film festivals worldwide, including Sundance, IDFA, Tribeca, Hot Docs and SXSW. Mary is currently cutting Carol Dysinger’s CAMP VICTORY, Afghanistan, for ITVS, to be completed Spring 2009. (AMERICAN TEEN, STREET FIGHT, THE FARM).
